Issue 374

Published v Sunderland on 14th February 2023, Issue 374 is a 64-page issue. Not surprisingly, in it we analyse the freefall that would shortly see Neil Critchley sacked. It also features the second and final part of Joanne Connolly's interview with Patrick Maguire, about his years spent behind bars, his subsequence release after a national campaign to squash his conviction for terrorism, and those of his immediate family, how he drew on that experience in his love and appreciation of art, and his career now as a professional artist. Central to all this, of course, is his undying love for QPR, then and still.

Also in Issue 374, Ray Eaton looks back to the time QPR nearly signed Pele... not the Brazilian great, but one of the top African players of all-time. Ray also recalls the QPR career of Czech goalkeeper Jan Stejskal - and how a last-minute penalty save at Newcastle earned him legendary status in W12. Elsewhere in a packed edition, we dissect and rate the fixtures between Sheffield United at home and Millwall at home; while editor Dave Thomas tells the tale of travelling by coach across Europe, beyond the then 'Iron Curtain', to Slovan Bratislava, and arguably the finest performance by any QPR team in the 3-3 draw; while Philip Pound looks at why Loftus Road attendances are so low, and Russell O'Connor has a confession to make.
